This award is given each year to an organization or individual who has made a major contribution to the community, with a heavy emphasis on affecting the children in our schools and the community.

There’s never a moment that Kiwanis clubs in Tempe are not involved in some way with changing the world for TD3 families and making the world better for students. That's why this year's recipient of the Ralph and Carla Lingerfelt Commitment to Community Award is Kiwanis Club of Tempe, Kiwanis Club of Tempe - Nuevo, and Kiwanis Club of Tempe - Sunrise.

From raising money to helping support weekend food programs to delivering beans and rice to TD3 families around the holidays to volunteering time to read to TD3 students (along with many, many other giving activities), Kiwanis members do what they do out of service to others — a never-ending desire to give back to their Tempe community. These clubs provide unparalleled relationships with TD3 students, families and employees. In the words of TD3 Superintendent Christine Busch, “I can’t imagine our life in Tempe Elementary without their involvement.”
